LAKADONG TURMERIC
LAKADONG TURMERIC
Our rare, potent turmeric is found exclusively in the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya—the only place in the world where it's grown. It has a vibrant yellow-orange hue, thanks to its impressive 7.68% curcumin content, and a bold, aromatic flavor. It’s a powerful addition to your culinary creations and wellness routine.
Intercropped with ginger, potatoes, black pepper, and native oranges, it features a musky, floral aroma and notes of ginger and honey.
Its versatility is unmatched—pair it with curries, stews, rice, salad dressings, white chocolate, marinades, teas, lattes, smoothies, and more.
The exceptional potency of this turmeric comes from the unique terroir of the region—dark, acidic soil, a cool climate, and abundant rainfall. Grown elsewhere, it would lose these remarkable qualities.

Our partner farmer Nokthei Pala from Umnari, Meghalaya
Nokthei is the youngest farmer we met, has a wealth of agricultural knowledge that far surpasses his age, which has been passed down through generations. From the age of 5, he has been learning and cultivating the land alongside his family. Despite being a civil engineer, he chooses to remain connected to his farming heritage. Drawing from ancient ancestral wisdom, he farms turmeric in a manner that has been done for centuries, going beyond organic and letting nature do its magic. He aims to inspire the younger generation to pursue farming, emphasizing its potential as a long-term, sustainable career option.
