"This is the best CCF I've ever had. The toasted spices bring out the flavors beautifully" - Madhurima

OUR PARTNER FARMERS
CUMIN: DEVJI PATEL FROM DUNGALA, GUJARAT

Devji comes from a family of multi-generational farmers. He is eccentric and the only farmer in his village and surrounding areas to grow cumin organically (not an easy task by any means – more on that later).
He makes his own natural fermented microbial culture (which smells horrendous), uses vermicompost, cattle manure, rotates crops seasonally, and more to create a biologically active soil that feeds micro-organisms which continuously improves the soil structure. He hopes to inspire other farmers to pick up organic farming.
FENNEL: PRAVIN PADALIA FROM RAMOD IN GUJARAT

When we first met Pravin, we were curious about his farming techniques. His response was simple: "I just let my crops grow after planting them." He believes in growing his crops naturally—without pesticides or chemical fertilizers—and embraces the natural order of things, even if it means accepting the occasional disease attack.
Pravin prefers not to interfere too much with nature, even if it means sacrificing potential income. Instead, he focuses on regenerative practices to improve soil fertility, which supports his “hands-off” farming approach. His commitment to sustainability and harmony with the land is what makes his spices truly special.
CORIANDER: ISHWAR GAUTAM FROM KHERA RUDHDA, RAJASTHAN

When Mr. Gautam, the patriarch, was retiring from daily farming, he wondered who in the family would continue their farming legacy. His three sons, all well-educated, had different career plans, none of which involved farming.
But, Ishwar, the youngest son, stumbled upon a book in his first year of college, which planted a seed: "What if we converted our entire farm to organic methods, to increase our yields while also improving the soil?" Initially met with doubt, Ishwar's vision was eventually embraced by the family, and he dropped out of college.
The early years were filled with struggles and setbacks, but Ishwar remained committed to transforming the farm with a dedication to regenerative farming practices. Ishwar's perseverance and hard work paid off, and their farm now flourishes with a diverse range of crops, earning multiple awards along the way.
